Josh Long is a Spring Developer Advocate at VMware. Josh is a Java Champion, author of five books (including O'Reilly's "Cloud Native Java: Designing Resilient Systems with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Cloud Foundry") and three best-selling video trainings (including "Building Microservices with Spring Boot Livelessons" w/ Phil Webb), and an open-source contributor (Spring Boot, Spring Integration, Spring Cloud, Activiti and Vaadin).

Mario Gray


Mario Gray is currently a Principal Technologist for VMware. Mario has worked in software for startups and large financial services enterprises alike working across the stack from server/network design to application design. He's professionally written software to entertain, bring people together, and drive businesses using technologies like Linux/Solaris,SQL/NOSQL,AWS/SALT,Spring/J2EE. Mario is confident that the future of cloud computing belongs to VMware and the Spring team for some time to come. A longtime open-source champion, Mario is co-author of Apress’ Pro-Spring Integration, as well as a contributor to the Spring and Integration projects.

Violeta Georgieva


Violeta Georgieva works at VMware and is Reactor Netty lead committer. She is a member of The Apache Software Foundation, a long-time Apache Tomcat committer, and a contributor to various OSS projects (Spring Framework, Netty, CF Java Buildpack etc.). Her passion is to provide technologies which will help web application developers to create scalable and resilient solutions.

Stéphane Nicoll


Stéphane has a thing for code quality and robustness. He's been spreading the word for more than ten years while developing large scale Java enterprise applications in the geospatial, financial, or logistics sectors. An Apache Maven PMC member since 2006, he joined the core Spring Framework development team early 2014, being one of the main contributors to both Spring Framework and Spring Boot since. During his free time, he loves traveling around the world.

Olga Maciaszek-Sharma


Olga Maciaszek-Sharma is a Senior Software Engineer in the Spring Cloud Team at VMware, where she works primarily on Spring Cloud Contract, Spring Cloud Netflix and Spring Cloud Gateway projects. She programs primarily using Java and Groovy. She has gained experience while working with microservices where cutting-edge solutions were used as well as with complex legacy systems, implementing both new business features and solutions aimed at improving the process of continuous deployment and setup of applications. Olga is also a contributor to various other OSS projects, including RestAssured, JFairy, Jenkins Pipeline Plugin, Jenkins Stash Pull Request Builder Plugin, and others. Before switching to development, she worked for more than 3 years as a Quality Assurance Engineer, specialized in test automation.

Marquita Priester

A hoarder of parenting memes and avid shoe collector, Marquita is a Software Engineer at VMware Labs where she loves empowering others through the ins and outs of XP practices. Marquita also mentors and tutors new developers as a mentor at Thinkful. When she's not working, she usually running around in circles chasing her son.

Rob Winch


Rob Winch is employed by VMware as the project lead of security related projects within Spring. He is also a committer on the core Spring Framework and co-author of the Spring Security 3.1 book. In the past he has worked in the health care industry, bioinformatics research, high performance computing, and as a web consultant. When he is not sitting in front of a computer he enjoys playing the guitar.

Angela Chin


Angela is a Senior Software Engineer at VMware, currently working on networking across PAS and PKS. She is enthusiastic about open-source technologies, and is particularly interested in all things related to networking and service meshes. When not reasoning about complex, distributed systems, Angela enjoys hiking, hot yoga, and subsequently rewarding herself with lots of delicious food.

Rossen Stoyanchev


At present, Rossen is a committer on the Spring Framework team with a strong focus on web development including Spring MVC and WebSocket messaging. Previously Rossen consulted and trained Spring teams for several years. He has been involved with Java and web development in various industries and domains since the mid 90s.

Cameron comes from a full-stack developer background thanks to the Galvanize Full Stack Developer program which makes her fiercely passionate about all things cloud-native, 12 factor and agile. As part of the Global Ecosystem team at VMware, Cameron works with a variety of partners to help bring cloud-native solutions to joint customers.

Mark Heckler is a VMware Principal Technologist & Developer Advocate, conference speaker, and published author focusing upon software development for the Internet of Things and the Cloud. He has worked with key players in the manufacturing, retail, medical, scientific, telecom, and financial industries and various public sector organizations to develop and deliver critical capabilities on time and on budget. Mark is a frequent open source contributor and author/curator of a developer-focused blog.

Michael Coté


Michael Coté works at VMware in technical marketing. He’s been an industry analyst at 451 Research and RedMonk, worked in corporate strategy and M&A at Dell in software and cloud, and was a programmer for a decade before all that. He blogs and podcasts at Cote.io and is @cote in Twitter.

Nate Schutta


Nate Schutta is a solution architect focussed on making usable applications. A proponent of polyglot programming, Nate has written two books on Ajax and speaks regularly at various worldwide conferences, No Fluff Just Stuff symposia, universities, and Java user groups. In addition to his day job, Nate is an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota where he teaches students to embrace dynamic languages. Most recently, Nate coauthored the book Presentation Patterns with Neal Ford and Matthew McCullough.

Olga is a Senior Product Manager at VMware focusing on application CI/CD and Spinnaker. Previously, she held a number of engineering roles at Dell EMC. She has a degree in Computer Science from the University of Toronto.

Paul Czarkowski


Paul Czarkowski is a long time practitioner of the dark arts of DevOps. Hailing from Australia he moved to Austin Texas to help build and run one of the largest and most successful online games. Now at VMware, Paul works to improve the Operator experience by taking Cloud Native software development concepts and applying them to Operations to create platforms that reduce toil and improve software delivery.

Cora Iberkleid


Cora Iberkleid is an Advisory Cloud Application and Platform Architect at VMware, where she helps enterprises leverage modern technologies like Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Cloud Foundry in order to deliver better quality software faster. Prior to joining VMware, she spent nearly a decade designing and building enterprise integration applications as part of the Professional Services organizations at Sun Microsystems and Oracle. She has previously spoken at Meetup events, including Cloud Native New York and New York City Spring User Group.

Ryan Baxter


Ryan Baxter is currently a Software Engineer at VMware. Exploring new languages, frameworks, and technologies, and then sharing what he’s learned, has always come naturally to Ryan. Even when it wasn't his day job, Ryan has always been driven by his passion, spending his time and energy educating his friends, colleagues, or anyone else that would listen. Currently, Ryan is working as a software engineer as part of the Spring Cloud team. Michael Minella


Michael Minella is a software engineer, teacher and author with over a decade of enterprise development experience. He is the project lead of Spring Batch and a member of the expert group for JSR-352 (java batch processing). Michael is the author of Pro Spring Batch from Apress and the popular Refcard JUnit and EasyMock. Outside of the daily grind, Michael enjoys spending time with his family as well as hobbies including woodworking, photography, and InfoSec.

Tyler has spent the last 18 years working with cloud, virtualization, and infrastructure technologies. Prior to joining VMware, Tyler worked in technical marketing and developer advocacy roles for Red Hat, IBM, and EMC. He also worked as a consultant and a network engineer for a Fortune 1000 company. When the computers are off, he likes to spend time outdoors hiking, biking, snowboarding, or tailgating at a Penn State game. He also has his pilot’s license and enjoys cooking and brewing beer.

Mark Fisher

Mark joined the Spring team in 2006 and has been involved in many Spring projects over the years. Currently he is focused on the intersection of functions, serverless, and stream processing on Kubernetes.

Alberto Rios


Software Engineer interested in building products people love in agile environments with a focus on high-quality tests and clean code. At the moment, I am part of the Spring Engineering team at VMware working from Seville, Spain on a fully remote team. We are building Spring Cloud related products and frameworks to help people adopting a microservices architecture and improving the experience of Spring in Cloud Foundry and Kubernetes. I like to focus on Reliability, Continuous Delivery, and Testing tasks and I mainly commit to Java Open Source projects.

Bella (Yuxin) Bai

Bella is a Pair Programming and TDD advocate, who enjoys crafting tests with a sufficient amount of cat references in them. She has worked on dozens of applications across industries like Healthcare, Insurance, Financial Services, and Retail. With experience in both green field and brown field projects, Bella is passionate about Extreme Programming, Evolutionary Architectures, and Domain-Driven Design. As a recent addition to the VMware Spring Cloud Services team, she played an important part in shaping the design of SCS 3.x.

Sergei Egorov

Sergei works at VMware on Project Reactor in Berlin, Germany. He is an active member of the Open Source community, member of the Apache Foundation, co-maintainer of the Testcontainers project, and a contributor to various OSS projects (Apache Groovy, Testcontainers, JBoss Modules, Spring Boot, to name a few), likes to share the knowledge and was presenting at different conferences and meetups in Russia, Germany, Ukraine, Norway, Denmark, Spain, and Estonia. He is passionate about DevOps topics, clouds, and infrastructure. Before VMware, he was working at Vivy, N26, Zalando, ZeroTurnaround, TransferWise, and other startups.

Emily Casey

Emily Casey is a Principal Software Engineer at VMware. Emily is a maintainer of the Platform and Implementation teams in the Cloud Native Buildpacks CNCF Sandbox project and the anchor of the Cloud Native Build effort within Cloud Foundry R&D. Emily worked as a software consultant before joining Cloud Foundry. She has a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Chicago.

Oliver Hughes

Ollie is a software engineer at VMware working on the Spring Cloud Services team. He is passionate about testing, automation and data engineering. In his spare time he loves windsurfing & cycling.

Madhav Sathe

Madhav is a cloud applications and platform architect at VMware. Madhav works as a trusted advisor and field CTO with customers in the financial sector to help them on their application modernization and cloud journey. He received a Platform Architect of the year (East region) award for 2018. Madhav has 17+ years experience in building and managing enterprise software. Prior to VMware Madhav spent most of his career at Oracle, first as a developer and then as a product manager. At Oracle he built and managed various middleware and application monitoring and analytics solutions.

Daniel Garnier-Moiroux

Daniel is a software engineer at Pivotal Labs. He practices extreme programming on a daily basis, and shares his passion by pair-programming with colleagues and clients. He also teaches computer science to engineering students in Mines de Paris. He has a keen interest in automation, and more broadly in improving software engineering productivity.
